STATEN ISLAND N.Y. -- Posing with Santa Claus is a staple for children this time of year, but these poses benefit a good cause.
Children of all ages came to 5 Boro Power Yoga Kids with gift donations in hand for Gianna Nicole's Heart of Hope foundation, an all-volunteer, non-profit organization Wednesday to help children stricken with cancer, as well as their families.
The New Dorp yoga studio, which opened November 30th, hosted about a dozen children anxious to hang out with Santa before the big day, and regularly offers programs geared towards youngsters, family and seniors.
Studio owner, Karen Torrone, said the event is meant to inspire children to be kind towards others in the spirit of the holiday.
"When Christmas came around I [thought] what can we do to not only bring awareness to what we're offering here, but also a way to give back from the kids' level."
"This is a way for the kids to understand Christmas is not only about Santa giving, but also about giving themselves."
